|---|---|
Created in 1967, this original acrylic on wood panel/board is hand signed by Yvaral (1934 – 2002) in black ink on the verso below his inscription. Hand written, signed, and dated by the artist on the verso: “YVARAL | 1967 | Progression No. 1201 | [signature]”. Hexagons are delineated in infinite numbers with radiation triangle-compositions which create a 3-D rectangular illusion attributed to this unique Op Artist. Yvaral’s work is best known for the light effects he creates with his works that break up an image or become the entire image itself. Completely abstract, the repetition of red, blue, white, and black causes the viewer’s eye to play tricks on them as the focus moves from the foreground and into the horizon line. La biographie de Jean Pierre Vasarely Yvaral
Combining the poetry of geometry with figurative art, Yvaral has created a wholly original body of artworks that has received the praise of important critics and museum curators around the world.
Born in France, Yvaral grew up in a complete artistic ambiance. Working alongside his father, Victor Vasarely, he discovered and explored the beauty of geometry in art. The inspiration of the French Impressionists and Pointillists is evident in Yvaral's vibrant paintings. The artist juxtaposes pure colors next to one another to achieve the illusion of three-dimensional forms.
